A gentle reminder for parents today
Last week I had a heavy day.One of those days where your body is tired, your mind feels full, and everything feels just a bit louder than usual.
And my kids? They were feeding right off that energy.
Instead of pushing through…Instead of forcing lessons, routines, or “making the day productive”…
We went outside. We spent most of the day in the garden.
Digging.Watering.Playing.Sitting in the sun.Breathing.
It’s our happy place — and it reset all of us.
This is your permission slip to rest.To slow the day down.To choose regulation over rigidity. To remember that learning doesn’t disappear just because you rest — sometimes it happens because you did.
You don’t need to earn rest.Your children don’t need a perfect version of you. They need a regulated one.
And sometimes that looks like dirt under your nails and nothing on the to-do list
If today feels heavy — go gently.
It counts. Always.
