How to Add the Journal to Your Home Screen
The Grounded Learning Journal works like an app, but instead of downloading it from an app store, you simply save it to your phone’s home screen.

Open the journal link in your phone’s browser.

Tap the share/menu icon in your browser.

Select “Add to Home Screen.”

The journal icon will now appear on your phone like a regular app.
This approach helps protect your family’s privacy, because the journal runs directly on your device rather than through app store systems that often collect user data.
Data Privacy & Security
The Grounded Learning Journal was built using an AI development tool called Emergent, which helped create the structure of the app. However, Emergent does not store or access any user data.
To protect families' privacy, the system was designed with very strict data protections:
• All data is stored locally on the user’s own device
• No information is stored on external servers
• No third-party analytics or data sharing
• The journal cannot be accessed from another device, even with the same login
Because of this setup, the learning records stay entirely on the family’s device, rather than being stored in a central database.
Families simply save the journal to their home screen like an app, which allows them to open it quickly without needing to download anything from an app store or connect to external systems that often collect data.
This approach was chosen intentionally to give families a private, secure space to record their child’s learning.
